On 17 March 2021, the Prime Minister of Malaysia unveiled a new economic stimulus package dubbed PEMERKASA aimed at steering economic recovery by supporting businesses and providing financial assistance to affected individuals and sectors.

Under PEMERKASA, an additional stimulus package worth up to RM20 billion comprising 20 initiatives is aimed at further strengthening the country’s competitiveness, boosting economic growth and combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
