Movement Control Order and Extensions Granted for Tax Purposes

On 16 March 2020, a nationwide 14-days Movement Control Order (MCO) effective from 18 March to 31 March 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-19 was announced by the Prime Minister of Malaysia. In line with this announcement, the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) respectively made several announcements to ease tax compliance burdens.

Responses from the IRB

To ensure continuous support, the following services will be maintained and made available to taxpayers by the IRB:

Online services through the ezHASiL platform;

  1. Hasil Care Line;
    1. 03-8911 1000 (local); or
    2. 03-8911 1100 (overseas);
  2. HASiL live chat; and
  3. Customer Feedback Form available on the IRB’s website.

The IRB has advised that the filing of tax returns and remitting of payments to the IRB be completed online using the ezHASiL platform.
